S55...just one more win, one more win...

Written by TEAM BOBYN at 15:17 7/2-2021

S55 was a season of mixed fortunes for TB, a hatful of podiums (equalled second-best ever) and tour PB's was undone by TB dropping into D6 at season end - very much down to the lack of wins - only one - Spearman's success at the Haanja - Karula.

Bugayev had a great seaon, a hatful of podiums, equalling his PB in the Tien Shen, holding the NT jersey for much of the season and breaking the record for highest ranked TB rider in a season (609th) however he was unable to break the duck to secure his first win - which encapsulated TB's season. Same is true of Spearman although he'd be happy with his D5 category win. Special mentions to Looper & new signing Kapriyanov for their performances in the Fast on Wheels. Spearman is likely to take a short sabbatical for a final flourish in what maybe his season. In the meantime OCM is set to witness TB's Hillster Unit which is well set up to TF to take S56 by storm.

Team Manager Barry said "A good season but the lack of wins was dissappointing which has meant we have failed in many of our team objectives for the season, perhaps Ukraine's win in the Comrade Cup distracted minds but we'll need to improve. Expect to see more from Bugayev and Spearman this time around, but also looking forward to see our Hillster unit in action next season which will be particularly exciting."

   In summary:

   Pts: 392 (+2pts)
   Division: F (6) (- Divisions)
   Rank: Ukraine 2nd (-1place) worldwide 346th (+5 places)
   Team Value 1.448m (+88k)

   Personnel & Tactical Changes

Some stability this time around with no major changes on the personnel front, Bugayev will head a rapidly developing downhill team with Spearman as VC. During Spearman's sabbatical, Vajda will take the reins for TB's exciting looking Hillster unit. Pleased to announce the arrival of Kapriyanov from ArxhangiiliPoznyakax to augment TB's TT capacity. Chupov, Volkov, Dmitriyev and Arshavin promise to be exciting prospects for the future.

   International:
Sad to see Myatlev finally retire from pro-cycling mid season but this was more than compensated by Ukraine's first success in the Comrade Cup and pleased to see TB's own Ukrainian contingent - Bugayev (3 caps, 1x7th), Nechayev (3caps), Kapriyanov (1 cap, 1x6th), Davydov (1 cap) all making valuable contributions.

U23 - For the first time in a while TB will look to fielding a side in the U23 for S56.

   Ukraine Honours
No Records broken but Spearman recorded a creditable 9th in the
   Stachanov Street.

   Tours & Cups

TB were able to enter three tours this season with some good individual performances including a GC place in the Stone City - although the final stage in the Stone City seems to be a curse on TB and a stage place in the Fast on Wheels. Special mention to Looper who did consistently well in this tour. The Cesko - still seems to allude us.

Tian Shen Stone City Cup (D5). Equalled Best GC Placement & Stage Place
   GC Ivan Bugayev (S54 & S55 9th)
   Av.Pos. Ivan Bugayev (S54 17th)
   Best Stage Performance:
   Ivan Bugayev(S55) Toshkent-Toshkent, 2nd

Fast on Wheels (D5) Stage race place & Av.Pos.
   GC N/A
   Av.Pos. HOmer Looper (S55 27th)
   Best Stage Performance:
   Demian Kapriyanov (S55) Odense-Odense ITT 2nd.

   Cesko-Slovensky-Pohar (D6) No improvment
   GC (Liam Roberts (S51 8th)
   Av.Pos. Liam Roberts (S51 17th)
   Best Stage Performance:
   Liam Roberts (S51) Brno-Trnava 5th

   Objectives for S56

   (i) Be top ranked Ukraine Side (S55-fail)
(ii) Finish in D5 - get some exposure to D4 (S55-fail)
   (iii) Target 2 x wins.(S55-fail)
(iv) Participate in at least one tour, improve on one of best performances.(S55 -Exceed)
   (v) Increase Team value to $1.5mk (S55 - $1.4mk - succeed)
(vi) Participate and progress stats in any UKraine race that becomes available (ultimate aim to win all Ukraine's 12 races). (S55 - participate - pass)
(vii) Finish top 9 of the FSU sides. (ranked 11th in S55 - fail - ouch.)

   Good Luck Everyone for S56!!!
